Ok, 75 days till Moab. So, I was looking at flights again. Midwest has a fairly decent itenerary for $318.80.
0600-0631 PIT to MKE (0600=ouch)
breakfast @ MKE
1039-1205 MKE to DEN
9/19/10
1310-1645 DEN to MKE
beers and burgers in MKE
1825-2050 MKE to PIT
Scott could do the 9/11/10 flight with us one-way for $128.90 and then fly back to via American PIT from GJT on 9/17 (if he skips the proposed friday fruita ride) GJT-PIT 1245-2155 for $178.40.
Something to ponder... if Scott does go will 4 guys and 4 bikes fit in a mini-van? Someone better bring some cargo straps.
Also, hotel in denver doesn't appear to have airport shuttle and $20/day parking. Do we keep car until Sunday?
Anyone???? Anyone???? Anyone???? Bueller??? Bueller??? Bueller???
I cant see us fitting 4 guys, 4 bikes, and dead hookers in a minivan, which puts us back at square one on the bike shipping/renting decision. So, I propose, for the eleventh time, SOMEONE FIND OUT WHAT SCOTT IS DOING!
ReplyDeleteChirp, chirp, chirp..... (thems' is crickets talking)
ReplyDeleteJust throwing this out there....
ReplyDeleteYou guys can do whatever you wanna do with your bikes - rent, ship, buy, take in carry-on etc...
I am packing mine in a box and taking it on the plane. If I have to rent/buy a bike rack, strap the bike down to the hood, or bicycle to Moab, I will figure it out.
If it doesn't make it on the plane - I'll rent one. I recommend yunz figure out what you wanna ride in Moab, and we'll figure out how to get it there
I agree. That mini-van has a roof rack, I'll bring cargo straps and have my way with it. Strap-on!!!
ReplyDeleteNow that we have that settled, can we pick a drop-dead date to purchase airplane tix? I propose we pick a flight and book it by 7/12/10. Thats a week and a half away and just under the 60 day window. Can I get someone to second that motion?
I am awaiting confirmation from Scott - Expecting it today.
ReplyDeleteMidwest looks like the better option for flying bikes - no size limit on bike boxes - and I like the 1310 departure time on the 19th
I second the airline ticket purchase drop dead date proposal
We might as well keep the car until Sunday.
ReplyDeleteDo you think we should rent it downtown or at the airport?
Agreed. We might as well rent at the airport, then we won't have to sit at the airport with the bikes while someone goes to town to pick up the van. I know it's cheaper downtown, but I'm guessing we'd At least break even when you factor in a couple cab rides to and from the airport at 25 bucks a guy.
ReplyDeleteAirport it is. Sat - Sun. Look at us making all sorts of decisions.
