Decision Time!!!

Ok, I looked up my old post from 6/8/2009 where I commented about how all the hotels were booked up and I made the reservation at the Moab Valley Inn.

Guess what...   June 8th ain't that far away.

We need to:
a) finalize the roster
b) finalize the agenda
c) reserve some hotel rooms
d) start thinking real hard about booking flights

Shall we hold a planning forum after a ride this weekend?

  1. According to their website the moab valley inn is booked for the week we are going to be out there. I called the reservation desk and they had a cancellation so a triple queen room is available for the 17th thru the 24th. I think we should get a head count and figure out what days we are spending where. If there are more than 4 or 5 of us the triple queen may be a tad crowded (so would the mini). If we're getting multiple rooms the triple queen may be excessive. Let me know what your thoughts are. We can always book now and cancel later.

  2. I say go for it. As of right now, we only have 4 confirmed. If we get more, they can work it out. Consider it a penalty for being indecisive. The more pressing issue is the agenda; we need to figure out what days we are going to be staying in moab and what days we're staying elsewhere. Are we able to book the room for the whole week and then just drop the 3 or so days we won't be staying? That would sound like the plan to me.

  3. I also say book it and we can always cancel if we need to, as long as there is not a huge penalty. We should set up a planning session to iron out the agenda.

  4. The moab valley inn is sold out on the 17th and the 23rd.

We could either hit grand junction for a couple days on both ends of the week or it is time to go back to the "hotel suggestions" post and start calling around.

  6. I'm cool with bookending the week with GJ. Maybe ride 2 days, head to Moab for 5 days and come back on the 23rd?

  7. I like the term "bookending". So a initial suggestion of iterinary would be fly into GJ on the 17th, stumble to the hotel (er... um... sightsee GJ), ride fruita on the 18th and 19th, drive to moab on the 19th, ride moab on the 20th, 21st, 22nd. 23rd could either be a GJ ride or a Moab ride (or a day off god forbid). Drive to GJ on the 23rd. Ride Fruita on the 24th. Fly home on the 25th.

    Rietscha is beign awfully quite.

  8. Sounds pretty good to me! I have a feeling I'm gunna need a day off in there somewhere. It will all be new to me, but do you guys want to do the same places as last year, or repeat your favorite which sounds like Fruita and then do someplace different like Durango??

  9. 3 queen room at moab valley inn has been booked for check-in on Sunday 9/18, check-out on Friday 9/23. I just grabbed as many days as possible. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy so we can eliminate days as we see fit.

  10. I booked rooms at the Clarion Inn in Grand Junction (the one with 2 pools and the sweet breakfast). They only had a two 2 double room for 9/17, but we won't have Chris so it's suitable. Booked the 3 double for the 23rd/24th. John, are you on Stewie recon? Im gonna start scouting plane tickets now.

  12. Let me know if I should be calling anywhere or need to book something. So the current plan is:
9/17 Fly in to Grand Junction.
9/17 Clarion Inn in Grand Junction
    9/18 - 9/23 Moab Valley Inn
    9/23 - 9/24 Clarion Inn
9/24 Fly home from grand junction.
    COOL!
