Looks like the "classic rides" are long buggers:

Lower Loop (mellow and great for wildflower viewing????  WTF???)
Strand Hill (17 miles round trip. 1500 feet cumulative elevation gain. A local favorite with plenty of single track riding.)

#401 (24 miles round trip. 2800 feet cumulative elevation gain. This one is a favorite among those who frequent the trails around Crested Butte. It's difficult, but well worth the effort. It offers a lot of advanced single track.  )
Teocalli Ridge(25 miles round trip. 2200 feet cumulative elevation gain. Plenty of intermediate and advanced single track make this a challenge and a local favorite for the awesome downhill and amazing views.

Hartman's Rocks (70+ miles of options here )
Crested Butte Mountain Resort (lift access trails, better bring your big bikes)

And don't forget Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

Just perusing the Utah MountainBiking website and came across this trail Nephi's Twist.

"The narrowest parts of the ridgeline are spooky-thin. Not enough room to walk alongside a bike. There's a good chance that, if you stop and put a foot down, the foot will land on air and you'll tumble."

Sweet!!!!  Or should I say EPIC!!!!!!

.......Four Brave souls embarked on a journey that would forever change their lives

Year 1 - Moab or Busts - We got Moab....



"Show me Sexy!!"



 

For most, if not all,  it is a journey that needs repeating.  That means its time to start the whole thing over again.  The 2nd Annual Moab or Busts Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands is tentatively scheduled for September 17th, 2011.

There is less interest this time in visiting Denver for Beerfest.  It is hoped that Beerfest is replaced by a visits to new and exciting Brewpubs and Microbreweries along with some new and exciting trails.

The general plan is to ride in the Greater Southwest Region of These United States.  A couple of National parks are within reach of Moab.  With some creative trip planning, it is possible to hit some new National Park Entrance Signs so John can cross those destinations off his list. 

Nothing is set in stone as of yet.  The dates can be massaged a little each way to accomodate everybody's preferences.  The countdown timer may be running, but Southwest is not even selling tickets for the month of September yet, so we have some time to discuss plans.

Anybody have ideas about new destinations or trails?  Old destinations or trails?

I couldn't bear to look at the "Day 1" Blog entry any longer.  It wouldn't have been so bad if we would have had a Day 2 through Day 10 entry.  Maybe next time there will be daily updates.

Just Outside of Denver, in Wheat Ridge Colorado there is a place....

It's a magical place called Applejack Liquors.

I work with a guy who says he never goes to Denver without going to Applejack.

The reviews online say the selection there is the best in the west.  More beers in one building than you have ever seen anywhere else.  There could be some exaggeration going one there, but I personally don't think we should take a chance at missing out.  It is about 25 minutes from the airport just off 70 west.  I.e. It's on the way to Moab.  We are gonna need beer .....
